JetHawks to Honor Buzz Aldrin on Aerospace Appreciation Night The Lancaster JetHawks are continuing its prized tradition of honoring the local aerospace industry by bringing one of the true legends of the space program to Lancaster. Dr. Buzz Aldrin, one of the first two men to walk on the moon, will be the honoree at the JetHawks fourth annual "Aerospace Appreciation Night". The event will be held at the JetHawks final Saturday home game of the 2007 regular season, August 25. "Aerospace Appreciation Night" is annually one of the most highly anticipated events of the season at Clear Channel Stadium and in the Antelope Valley community. One of the unique aspects of this special celebration is the series of bobblehead dolls that have been created as a giveaway items for fans. Since the event's inception in 2004, honorees of the JetHawks Aerospace Appreciation event have included General Chuck Yeager, Col. William J. "Pete" Knight, Gordon Fullerton, and Vance Brand. Dr. Aldrin is scheduled to visit Clear Channel Stadium to be in attendance at the JetHawks game and participate in a pre-game ceremony to honor the aerospace pioneer. In addition, a special video-board video presentation detailing highlights of his illustrious career will be played during the pre-game ceremonies. Following the contest between the JetHawks and the Stockton Ports, there will be a post-game fireworks spectacular. "It is an honor to be able to bring such a distinguished American hero to Lancaster as part of our fourth annual Aerospace Appreciation Night," says JetHawks General Manager Brad Seymour. "Those of us in the Antelope Valley owe a lot to the entire aerospace industry and celebrating that field with an event such as this one is a wonderful thing for our fans and our entire community. We are proud to not only pay tribute to the incredible history of this community, but also create an educational experience for fans in attendance during this game." Dr. Aldrin became a household name on July 20, 1969 when he and Neil Armstrong became the first two human beings ever to walk on the moon. Among his other distinguished positions, Dr. Aldrin spent time in the Antelope Valley as the Commander of the Test Flight School at NASA Dryden, located at Edwards Air Force Base. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom and has worked tirelessly to advance the future of space exploration through his business ventures and his non-profit organization.
